The Deputy Minister in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance, Deus Sangu, has issued a strong warning to public sector employers who delay processing employee transfer requests.
He emphasized that such delays are unacceptable and pledged to hold those responsible accountable if the situation does not improve.
Speaking in Dodoma at the conclusion of a workshop for Heads of Administration and Human Resource Management in the public sector, Minister Sangu stressed the importance of handling transfers efficiently to uphold employee morale and ensure smooth operations across government institutions.
“Employers must stop sitting on transfer requests without taking timely action,” said Sangu. “This kind of behavior creates unnecessary frustration and inefficiency. Anyone found to be neglecting their responsibilities in this regard will face serious consequences.”
The workshop, attended by key administrative and human resource personnel, focused on improving public service delivery by fostering better management of human resources and administrative processes. Minister Sangu noted that the government is committed to enhancing professionalism and ensuring that employees are treated fairly and in accordance with regulations.
Transfers within the public sector are often essential for career development, family reunification, or operational needs, yet delays have been a persistent challenge. Some employees report waiting months or even years for their transfer requests to be processed, often without any clear communication from their employers.

By addressing transfer delays, the government aims to create a more supportive work environment that enables employees to perform at their best while feeling valued and respected.
The Deputy Minister also urged human resource leaders to review their current procedures to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. “We must adopt a culture of responsiveness and responsibility,” he added. “Timely action on transfer requests is not just a procedural matter—it is a reflection of our commitment to fairness and professionalism.”
This call to action has been welcomed by many within the public sector, particularly employees who have experienced the frustration of delayed transfers. Human resource experts have highlighted the importance of implementing clear timelines and accountability measures to ensure that transfer requests are handled promptly and transparently.
