The Ugani 23 officers of Igunga District, Tabora have been encouraged by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Hussein Bashe (Mb) explained that the government has invested in motorcycle workstations, soil scanners for soil health testing and a program to build their homes.
He said this on 14 September 2024 during his visit to Nzega and Igunga districts and promised to add more than 100 Ugani Officers so that the villagers of these areas can cultivate with modern methods and more productivity.
“If the district head allocates land for the seed production nursery, the Ministry of Agriculture will not hesitate to come and ensure that the nursery brings high seed production to the Igunga district”, said Minister Bashe.

He has promised that the valleys of the District will be surveyed and redrawn to ensure that farmers are properly benefited for generations to come. ⁇ I urge you to protect the agricultural areas and have the boundaries of the agricultural areas especially the valleys to protect the water resources that pass through the waterways and have the capacity to build water channels for irrigation agriculture, ⁇ said Minister Bashe.
In addition, Minister Bashe has directed the District Chief to hold sessions with villagers to persuade them to start building house walls so that the Ministry of Agriculture will seek funds to come and help finish the houses for the use of the Ugani Officers in providing services to the farmers.
Minister Bashe has also directed the National Irrigation Commission to implement all areas of irrigation projects in Igunga District on time. Explaining further about the statistics of ongoing projects in the district, NIRC Director General, Mr. Raymond Mndolwa said that there are 4 dams projects that are in the construction stage and requested to be given the cooperation of the areas data that involve the construction of agricultural offices.
