The Minister of Agriculture, David Silinde (MP), has announced the Ministry’s commitment to empowering youth in the agricultural sector by providing them with various tools, including tractors, to enhance their farming efficiency.
Minister Silinde made this announcement while handing over 09 tractors to farmers from PASS Leasing Company Limited at the International Agricultural Exhibition taking place at the Nzuguni grounds in Dodoma on August 3, 2024.
“As a government, we are committed to ensuring that the youth gain an understanding of agriculture, and we have already directed all regions and councils nationwide to allocate land for the youth so that our nation, Tanzania, can be self-sufficient in agricultural produce,” Silinde stated.

On her part, Rosebud Kurwijila, a Member of the Board of Directors of PASS Leasing Limited, mentioned that the company has handed over agricultural equipment, including 9 tractors worth 401.76 million TZS, to farmers in Dodoma, particularly in the districts of Kongwa and Chemba.
“This support is expected to increase production by cultivating more than 2,000 acres; create at least 30 direct jobs, and benefit approximately 300 people in one season,” said Rosebud Kurwijila.
The Ministry of Agriculture continues to promote the use of modern agricultural tools, including building the capacity for their use, to ensure farmers have reliable equipment for their activities. This initiative aims to achieve the government’s goal of reaching 10,000 tractors by 2030.
