Efforts to oust Kenya’s Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua through a no-confidence motion are gaining traction as several lawmakers confirm they have signed in support of the initiative.
Owen Baya, the Deputy Majority Leader in the National Assembly, confirmed last evening that the collection of signatures from Members of Parliament is ongoing and that the motion will be presented at an appropriate time.
Although he refrained from discussing the details of the charges against Gachagua, Baya stated that MPs would express their opinions once the motion is formally introduced in Parliament.
An opposition legislator indicated that the process is underway and the motion could be tabled in the National Assembly as early as next Tuesday.
Several MPs have mentioned that the motion will likely be presented before President William Ruto, currently in New York for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), returns to the country.Kenya’s Nation news platform has not been able to verify who will formally present the motion or how many MPs have signed it so far.

Sources revealed that the charges involve constitutional violations, misconduct, and abuse of office, particularly related to Gachagua’s public statements, which have been perceived as divisive and alienating to other Kenyans.
