The Tanzanian government is actively working to ensure the sustainability of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). This follows concerns raised in parliament about the effective use of health insurance across the country.
Deputy Minister of State in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Dr. Festo Dugange, speaking on behalf of the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Godwin Mollel, emphasized that the government is committed to enhancing NHIF’s operations to continue providing quality healthcare services to all citizens.

In the ongoing efforts, the government is assessing and implementing robust plans to strengthen NHIF, which includes ongoing discussions with various stakeholders, such as the Aga Khan Hospital, to explore avenues for continued and improved healthcare service delivery through the fund.
The administration recognizes the critical role that health insurance plays in the welfare of the population and is determined to secure the fund’s long-term viability.
