Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Secretary General Emmanuel Nchimbi has issued a firm warning to party leaders, urging them to stop manipulating internal election processes and targeting members for exclusion.
Speaking in Kahama District, Shinyanga Region, on October 10, 2024, Nchimbi condemned leaders who engage in unethical practices aimed at disqualifying potential candidates. He emphasized that every party member has equal rights and should not be unfairly targeted.
“As we move towards our elections, let fairness guide us. We must stop orchestrating the selection of certain individuals. Leaders should be elected based on merit, and it is an ethical offense to plot the removal of a member just to secure personal interests,” Nchimbi said. He warned against creating divisions within the party by undermining fellow members based on personal disagreements.
Nchimbi also addressed the behavior of leaders who, after being elected, retaliate against members who did not support them. “We have some individuals in the party who, after winning an election, start investigating who didn’t support them and then act against those members. This behavior is wrong and must be stopped,” he added.

He emphasized that freedom of choice is a fundamental principle of democracy. “If someone votes for you, it’s their right, and if they don’t, it’s still their right. You cannot expect universal support, as you are not God. The only thing that enjoys everyone’s support is money,” Nchimbi quipped.
His message is a call for unity and ethical leadership within CCM, reminding leaders that democracy should be the foundation of their actions as the party prepares for internal elections. Nchimbi urged members to maintain fairness, transparency, and inclusivity in the electoral process.
