The Minister of Defence and National Service, Dr. Stergomena Tax took part in a tree-planting ceremony at the Defence Headquarters in Kikombo, Dar es Salaam.
The event was a celebration of both environmental conservation and President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s birthday, which is marked annually on January 27.
The tree-planting activity was organized as part of broader efforts to promote environmental sustainability and enhance the working environment for employees within the Ministry of Defence. Dr. Tax highlighted that this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving both the ecosystem and the health of its workers.
“The goal today is not just to plant trees but to contribute positively to the environment and make the spaces where we work healthier,” Dr. Tax said. “It’s also a way to honor the vision of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, whose dedication to environmental sustainability continues to inspire the entire nation.”
President Samia’s birthday has become synonymous with tree planting and other environmental initiatives, and this year, the Defence Ministry joined in the observance. Dr. Tax noted that the trees planted will serve as a lasting reminder of the country’s commitment to a greener future and sustainable development.
