More than 1,200 exhibitors are showcasing modern farming technologies, investment opportunities and affordable financing solutions at this year’s Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition, as the government intensifies efforts to modernise Tanzania’s agricultural sector.
Speaking after touring exhibition pavilions at the Dr John Malecela Grounds in Nzuguni, Dodoma, Agriculture Ministry Permanent Secretary Gerald Mwelu said the event had become an important platform connecting farmers with modern technologies, professional services, markets, investors and financial institutions.
Mwelu highlighted four key areas from which visitors could gain knowledge during the annual exhibition.
He said the exhibition had demonstrated Dodoma’s potential to produce a wide range of crops, including cotton, cashew nuts, tobacco and fruits such as apples, through modern farming technologies and improved production systems.
Secondly, he said, the exhibition features more than 200 exhibitors displaying agricultural technologies and innovations aimed at increasing productivity.

“This year, the government, through the Cashew Board of Tanzania, will distribute 100 cashew-processing machines to farmers’ groups. Each machine can process more than 80 tonnes of cashew nuts per day,” Mwelu said.
He identified direct engagement with agricultural experts, institutions and service providers as another major attraction, saying farmers could access practical solutions across the agricultural value chain.
Mwelu added that the exhibition offered affordable financing opportunities, with more than 40 financial institutions educating farmers and entrepreneurs about credit facilities available for expanding agribusinesses.
This year’s Nane Nane exhibition has attracted 1,188 local and 24 international exhibitors. It has also drawn foreign delegates, including South Sudan’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.
