President Samia Suluhu Hassan has reminded public servants across the country that they are entrusted with the responsibility of serving citizens and must fulfill their duties with commitment and integrity.
Speaking on February 25, 2025, during the official opening of the Handeni Town Council building, President Samia emphasized the importance of accountability in public service. She urged government employees to embrace their roles wholeheartedly and ensure they deliver services effectively to the people.
“You have been entrusted with the duty to serve our people,” she stated. “It is imperative that you stand firm in your positions and execute your responsibilities with utmost diligence.”
The newly inaugurated building is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve administrative facilities and enhance service delivery. President Samia highlighted that such developments aim to create a better working environment for civil servants, enabling them to serve the community more efficiently.
“This is more than just a building; it represents our commitment to strengthening governance at the local level. I expect all staff working here to use this space effectively to benefit the people,” she added.
During her address, President Samia also underscored the importance of ethical conduct in public service. She cautioned against negligence and abuse of office, reminding civil servants that their positions are meant to serve the public, not for personal gain.
“Let us not forget that our roles exist to serve the people, not the other way around. Uphold integrity, be accountable, and always prioritize the interests of the citizens,” she urged.

The newly inaugurated Handeni Town Council building symbolizes this vision, providing a foundation for improved governance and service delivery in the region. It is now up to civil servants to embrace their responsibilities and uphold the trust placed in them by the citizens.
