August 27, 2024, Dr. Faustine Ndugulile was elected as the new Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Africa, making history as the first Tanzanian and East African to occupy this influential position since its inception 72 years ago. He further acknowledged the campaign’s effectiveness, which was bolstered by the strategic involvement of the Tanzanian government.
Similarly, former Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu praised Dr. Ndugulile’s election, noting that it reflected not just a personal victory but also a significant achievement for Tanzania and Africa.
