The Government of Tanzania has received a substantial dividend of TSh 4.35 billion from the Tanzania-Zambia Pipeline Company (TAZAMA),
marking the first such payment since 2019. This milestone, celebrated in Dar es Salaam, is closely tied to the recent visit of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to Zambia, where she underscored the importance of effective project management to deliver tangible benefits to citizens of both nations.
Dr. Doto Biteko, Tanzania’s Energy Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, received the ceremonial cheque, emphasizing that the dividend reflects the successful outcomes of President Samia’s directive to manage joint projects with Zambia more efficiently. He praised the efforts of TAZAMA’s board members and officials from the Ministry of Energy for their role in achieving this financial success.
Zambian officials attended the ceremony, highlighting the ongoing strong bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The event also served as a platform to discuss future expansions of the TAZAMA pipeline. Plans are underway to increase its capacity to transport additional petroleum products and to explore the feasibility of constructing a new gas pipeline from Tanzania to Zambia.
