The 2024 Olympic Games have officially commenced in Paris with a captivating ceremony featuring thousands of athletes along the River Seine watching performers on bridges, banks, and rooftops in a grand opening event.

For the first time, the platforms were switched to open the “World’s Greatest Games,” with a nearly four-hour spectacle culminating in French judo legend Teddy Riner and athlete Marie-Jose Perec lighting the torch on a specially designed balloon-shaped vessel.
Fireworks in blue, white, and red were set off before 6,800 athletes from 205 nations traveled on 85 boats and ships to iconic locations in the French capital.
There were surprise performances during the ceremony, including renowned American singer and songwriter Lady Gaga, with the crowd witnessing the return of Canadian star Celine Dion, evoking emotional reactions from the audience.
