In the fight against illegal drug trade, the Iringa Police have successfully apprehended Bashiri Lupondo (18), a bajaji driver and resident of Makorongoni, Iringa Municipality, along with ten others.
They were found in possession of 257 cannabis sachets hidden in a container.

Police Commander SACP Allan Bukumbi reported that in addition to these arrests, the police also detained Ujuzi Msangailwa (22), a farmer from Nyakavangala, Iringa District, who was found with three pieces of counterfeit gold.
“The suspect was caught deceiving people at the Main Bus Terminal in Makorongoni, Iringa Municipality, using these fake gold pieces to scam individuals.
He brought these items from Nyakavangala,” said SACP Bukumbi.
Furthermore, SACP Bukumbi informed the media that there have been several cases where the police have achieved success, with some accused already convicted and others ordered to pay financial compensation.
He also thanked the public for their continued cooperation, which has led to the arrest of some criminals and the recovery of various stolen items.
He urged all vehicle users to ensure their vehicles are inspected at police stations and to obtain the necessary inspection stickers.
