The Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) –Tanzania Amos Makalla, has organized a fundraising event to assist Tundu Lissu, Vice Chairman of the Democratic Change Party, in repairing his car damaged during the shooting incident involving Lissu.
The event took place at Furahisha Grounds in Mwanza as part of a public rally overseen by CCM’s Secretary-General, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi.
At the gathering, Makalla successfully gathered TZS 5.3 million to assist Lissu in repairing his essential vehicle for political engagements. Makalla expressed that his compassionate act was motivated by Lissu’s enduring challenges rather than political competition.
This fundraising initiative has garnered significant attention for its rare display of bipartisan support in Tanzanian politics. It indicates a potential shift towards a more cooperative political landscape where personal hardships are recognized and aided regardless of party lines.
Lissu, renowned for his resilience in the face of adversity, including previous life-threatening incidents, is yet to publicly acknowledge the gesture.
