The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, January Makamba, has urged retired ambassadors in the country to continue utilizing their knowledge and experience gained during their service to help leaders in building the nation.
At the annual meeting of the Tanzania Retired Ambassadors’ Association, Makamba highlighted the valuable contributions retired ambassadors can make to nation-building. He encouraged them to share their knowledge with current leaders, stressing the ongoing importance of diplomacy post-retirement. Makamba emphasized the significance of retired ambassadors’ experiences and insights, underscoring their potential to benefit current leadership and advance national interests. He assured continued support for retired ambassadors and emphasized the importance of their ongoing contribution to national development. The minister called for a seamless transfer of knowledge from retired ambassadors to current leaders for the collective progress of the country, expressing his commitment to collaboration with them. Retirees welcomed the opportunity to continue serving through knowledge sharing and mentorship.
The Foreign Minister, also highlighted Tanzania’s economic diplomacy achievements, noting a significant increase in investments in 2023 compared to previous years. He praised President Samia for her efforts in enhancing bilateral relations and securing development funds through strategic projects. The Tanzania Investment Centre registered a notable increase in projects and investments in 2023. He acknowledged the positive performance of the country’s ambassadors abroad while emphasizing the need for continuous improvement. A meeting bringing together all ambassadors representing Tanzania abroad is scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in economic diplomacy. January Makamba commended President Samia for her diplomatic achievements on the global stage, expressing optimism for further success under her leadership.
