The Chief Wildlife Officer from the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government, Ms. Hawa Mwechaga, has called on development stakeholders to continue collaborating with the government in providing education on climate change issues in the country.
She stated that these changes are caused by natural forces and human activities that are not environmentally friendly, as they contribute to the increase in greenhouse gases.
Ms. Hawa made these remarks on September 17, 2024, in Dodoma, during a meeting with stakeholders on climate change in the country.

“This meeting aims to discuss the best ways to ensure that local government authorities fully participate in climate change matters, including building their capacity to benefit from funds provided by international environmental funds,” Ms. Hawa emphasized.
She added that environmental issues are fundamental to the development of our citizens, as the ecosystems are found within local government authorities. She called for increased collective efforts to address the impacts of these changes, which affect the economy, environment, health, and community well-being.
Meanwhile, the Planning Officer of Mpwapwa District Council, James Messo, said that despite the council allocating budgets for environmental management, he urged stakeholders to continue collaborating.
