63 year old Kiminya Sambo, a resident of Nambizo Village in Mbozi district, Songwe region, was found dead, allegedly murdered by unknown assailants and his body discarded in the village forest.

According to confirmed reports from family members and village leaders, the elderly man, who was unmarried, went missing from his home several days before his body was discovered.

His body was found with severed limbs, including a leg and an arm.

Jose Kuminya, one of the deceased’s children, reported that their father was found dead after being missing for three days. They began searching for him on July 9, and eventually found his body on July 11 abandoned by the roadside in the village forest, with his leg and arm missing.

Jose described the scene at their father’s home, where he lived alone, on the night of his disappearance. There were no signs of forced entry, suggesting that the perpetrators may have gained access after Mr. Sambo willingly opened the door. Even the alcohol he had been drinking that night was found undisturbed nearby.

Jackson Ntembo, chairman of Namanga Sub-village, confirmed the incident, stating that they initiated a search upon receiving reports of Mr. Sambo’s disappearance. They discovered his body with severe wounds to the chest and head, and noted the missing limbs.

“A medical examination of the deceased revealed four wounds inflicted by a sharp object. As a leader, I urge the Police to conduct thorough investigations,” said Ntembo.

Acting Songwe Regional Police Commander, Gallus Hyera, confirmed the incident and assured that investigations are ongoing. As of the latest update, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident.

Mbozi district has experienced a series of murder incidents. Recently, unidentified individuals murdered Daudi Kwibuja (30), who was a pharmacist at Isansa Health Center in this district. His body was found beside the Mbeya-Tunduma (Tanzam) highway in Mlowo.

The body of the healthcare worker was discovered with injuries. According to Songwe Regional Police Commander Agostino Senga, investigations revealed that the injuries on the deceased were not consistent with those from a car accident. Initially, it was thought that the pharmacist had died in a car accident.

Similar to the case of Mzee Sambo’s murder and dismemberment, as of yesterday, no suspects had been arrested by the Police in connection with the pharmacist’s murder.
