The Parliamentary Committee on Education, Culture, and Sports has criticized all local authorities across the country, urging them to cease using government-run English medium schools as revenue sources.

The committee’s chairperson, Ms. Husna Sekiboko, made this statement today during a visit to the Richard Mgana primary and nursery school in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam. The visit was part of the committee’s effort to inspect ongoing educational projects.

Sekiboko highlighted an ongoing debate concerning the high costs of English medium schools, questioning why Tanzanians are bearing the burden of these expenses when the teachers at these institutions are being paid from public funds.
