The Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. January Makamba, bid farewell to the Ambassador of Denmark to Tanzania, Her Excellency Mette Norgaard Dissing Spandet, as her tenure concluded at the Ministry’s offices in Dar es Salaam.
Minister Makamba extended his heartfelt appreciation to Ambassador Mette for her exemplary service during her diplomatic mission. He praised her for not only strengthening the diplomatic ties between Tanzania and Denmark but also for her significant contributions to various economic and social development programs and projects that have contributed to the nation’s growth.
Furthermore, Minister Makamba acknowledged Ambassador Mette’s pivotal role in addressing global challenges such as climate change and issues of peace and security. He emphasized the importance of such international cooperation in finding solutions to these pressing issues affecting the world today.
In response, Ambassador Mette expressed gratitude for the support she received from the Tanzanian government under the leadership of Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. She highlighted the need for further efforts to enhance trade and investment between Tanzania and Denmark despite the growing diplomatic relations.
“While diplomatic relations have flourished, more efforts are needed to boost the levels of trade and investment between Tanzania and Denmark,” remarked Ambassador Mette.

Tanzania and Denmark have collaborated extensively in sectors including agriculture, healthcare, education, and business investments. Ambassador Mette reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to continuing its contributions towards enhancing bilateral trade and investment.
