President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has named Engineer Peter Rudolf Ulanga as the new Chief Executive Officer of Tanzania’s national airline.
Ulanga steps into the role previously held by Engineer Ladislaus Matindi, who recently retired, leaving a legacy of dedication in the aviation sector. The appointment of Ulanga underscores President Samia’s commitment to strengthening critical national institutions through fresh leadership.
Ulanga brings extensive engineering and administrative experience to his new role, an asset seen as pivotal in advancing the airline’s goals. His selection aligns with the President’s vision of building an efficient and competitive airline capable of meeting both domestic and international demands. With a background that includes key roles in engineering and strategic management, Ulanga is well-prepared to oversee the airline’s ongoing expansion and modernization efforts.
In recent years, the airline has focused on enhancing its operational standards and expanding its reach to regional and international markets. Ulanga is now expected to lead these efforts, elevating the airline’s services and fostering a reputation for reliability and excellence within the competitive East African aviation industry.
Alongside this appointment, President Samia has also selected Professor Harun Jeremia Mapesa as the new head of Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial University, a respected institution dedicated to honoring the legacy of Tanzania’s founding father. Professor Mapesa, who has previously served as a Senior Lecturer at Mzumbe University, will be taking over from Professor Shadrack Mwakalila, whose tenure has ended.
The transition marks a new chapter for the university, which aims to cultivate graduates equipped to drive national development across diverse fields. Mapesa’s academic expertise and leadership experience are expected to further the institution’s mission, which includes shaping future leaders and expanding research initiatives to address national and regional challenges.
