Yesterday, Simba finalized the signing of Leonel Ateba from Algeria’s USM Alger and officially introduced him at 4:00 PM.
While Simba fans celebrate Ateba’s arrival, attention has shifted to two players who might be shown the exit to make room for Ateba. These players are striker Freddy Koublan ‘Fungafunga’ and goalkeeper Ayoub Lakred.
Reports suggest that these players are being considered for removal to accommodate the new Cameroonian star, as Simba now has 13 foreign players and the rules of the Tanzania Premier League mandate a maximum of 12.

As of now, Simba’s management has not decided which of the two will be let go, but a final decision is expected to be made today, Friday, August 17.
Koublan seems to have failed to impress coach Fadlu Davids, and it is reported that the coach has endorsed the decision to release the Ivorian striker.
However, Ayoub’s long-term injuries are causing concern for Simba, as he might miss a significant number of matches, making him a potential candidate for release as well.
What complicates Ayoub’s situation further is the performance of the new goalkeeper, Mousa Camara, whose impressive display in the three matches he has played has won over many.
