The leaders’ discussions focused on tax issues, particularly the issue of capacity building in tax administration, where Minister Kombo explained that Tanzania will continue to cooperate with South Sudan in ensuring that this goal is fully achieved by boosting the economy through domestic revenue and building self-reliance.
They also discussed promoting trade cooperation, stressing the importance of small and large traders from the two countries participating in trade fairs such as Sabasaba, the East African Entrepreneurs’ Fair known as ‘Juakali’, and the Nanenane Agricultural Fair as they have become a strong link for traders to advertise, sell their products and network with fellow traders in promoting the market for goods and services in the region and internationally.
Likewise, they have discussed cooperation in educational matters where Hon. Goc has explained that South Sudan is bringing university students to study at the University of Dar es Salaam where this move enables the two countries to promote communication between Tanzanian and South Sudanese youth and thus lead to the growth of various social and economic activities.
