Speaking during a meeting with district officials, Zainab emphasized that titles are temporary, and people should be humble and dedicate themselves to serving the citizens with a spirit of public service.
“Consider titles as things that are fleeting and ordinary. We must be humble and lower ourselves to serve the people. I have found that many projects are stalling due to lack of supervision, as each person is occupied with their own affairs, and we end up shooting arrows at each other,” said Zainab
This statement comes at a time when the government is focused on ensuring that development projects are implemented effectively and in line with the set plans. Oftentimes, lack of proper follow-up and supervision has been a significant obstacle in the implementation of these projects.
Zainab explained that officials from the relevant departments and units have been preoccupied with their own administrative matters, neglecting their responsibility to serve the citizens. This has led to many projects stalling and failing to achieve the intended goals.
To address this issue, Zainab has issued a directive that for any project receiving public funds, a brief message should be sent via SMS to ensure that the implementation is aligned with the set timeline. She emphasized that it is unacceptable for a project to be given three months to be completed, but the decision-making process and construction planning take six months.
This call by Hon Zainab is directing officials in Muheza District to have a positive mindset towards their authority and position, and instead focus on diligently carrying out their duties with the aim of serving the citizens. This step is expected to bring greater efficiency in the implementation of development projects in the district.
