A recent report from the Adult and Community Education Programme for 2024 has unveiled significant progress in the education sector.
According to the findings, 97,217 learners attended 1,851 centers in 2023, with 39,789 men and 57,428 women participating.
Omar Kipanga, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, presented these figures to the National Assembly in response to a query from Shally Raymond, a Member of Parliament for Special Seats.
Key highlights from the report include:
– Basic Education for Out-of-School Children
– This initiative benefited 57,843 students across 2,557 centers. The student demographic consisted of 32,141 boys and 25,702 girls, aimed at providing education to those outside traditional schooling systems.
– Integrated Post-Basic Education Programme (IPPE): The programme engaged 9,368 students in 89 centers, focusing on advanced education beyond basic levels.

– Integrated Secondary Education for Out-of-School Youth (POSA) This programme had 42,183 youths participating in 85 centers, offering secondary education to those who missed out on conventional schooling.
The report underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational access and opportunities for both adults and out-of-school youth, reflecting a commitment to improving educational outcomes across the country.
