SA Army Delegation Visits Moscow for Cooperation

The military leaders reached agreements to further enhance cooperation between the armed forces of South Africa and Russia across various domains.

A delegation from the South African military, headed by General Rudzani Maphwanya, Chief of the South African National Defence Force, has arrived in Moscow to engage in discussions about bilateral military cooperation.

The visit commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Aleksandr Garden, officiated by General Oleg Salyukov, Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces of Russia.

The official talks took place at the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation within the Russian Ministry of Defence, where both sides focused on strengthening military collaboration.

During the discussions, General Salyukov emphasized that “for Russia, cooperation with African partners is strategic and long-term, aimed at fostering friendly, secure, and equitable relations.”

The military leaders reached agreements to further enhance cooperation between the armed forces of South Africa and Russia across various domains.

Additionally, the South African delegation is scheduled to visit military training institutions, the Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, as well as historical sites and museums in Moscow and its surrounding region.
