The Ministry of Water , is actively working on initiatives to enhance clean water and sanitation services in the Dar Es Salaam Region and coastal areas. Among these endeavors is the establishment of water distribution infrastructure sourced from deep wells in Kimbiji.
By April 2024, the Ministry has accomplished the initial two phases of the project, amounting to 21.28 billion Tanzanian Shillings.
The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance potable water supply for residents in a variety of areas, including Chanika, Luzando, Mpera, Chamazi, Kitunda, Kinyerezi, Temeke, Kisarawe, Kibada, Kimbiji, Kigamboni, Tuangoma, Mkuranga, Kongowe, Mbagala, Kurasini, Mtoni, Keko, and Chang’ombe. Approximately 250,000 individuals have reaped the benefits of this project, resulting in improved access to clean and safe water.
Minister of Water, Juma Aweso, underscored the significance of this project in enhancing water accessibility and the well-being of residents in these areas.
