Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has highlighted Tanzania’s commitment to the Africa Energy Leaders’ Summit, also known as “Mission 300,” as a key driver for implementing the country’s National Energy Policy. This policy emphasizes sustainable energy development, conservation, and efficiency.
Dr. Biteko made the remarks today, January 27, 2025, during the summit’s opening in Dar es Salaam. The two-day event, running from January 27 to 28, gathers ministers, energy stakeholders, and financial experts for discussions today, while tomorrow’s session will engage heads of state from across Africa.
In his address, Dr. Biteko acknowledged Tanzania’s energy progress but underscored the need for increased investment in the sector. “Despite our advancements, we require strategic investments in energy to drive economic growth, especially in industries, mining, and hospitality sectors,” he stated.

The summit aims to explore solutions for achieving energy sustainability and access for 300 million people in Africa by 2030. Tanzania views this initiative as an opportunity to strengthen its energy infrastructure and attract international partnerships to bolster its economic ambitions.
