The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, launched two significant books during a meeting with Tanzanians residing in the Republic of Korea.
The books launched were “A Taste of East Africa” and “Kiswahili kwa Wasiozungumza Kiswahili.”The Tanzanians in diaspora expressed great enthusiasm for the development of their language and culture.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan held up the books after their official launch, highlighting the importance of these publications to the Tanzanian and East African communities.
“A Taste of East Africa,” authored by Chaba Mavura, explores the cuisine and culinary traditions of East Africa. Speaking about the book, President Samia stated, “This book is a testament to the richness of our culture and the heritage of our traditional foods. It offers the world a glimpse into the flavors and cooking techniques of East Africa.
” Chaba Mavura, the author, stood to the President’s left during the launch and expressed his gratitude for the significant honor.
During the ceremony, President Samia also launched the book “Kiswahili kwa Wasiozungumza Kiswahili,” written by Tunu Magembe, a Kiswahili instructor at the Tanzanian Embassy in South Korea.
This book aims to teach the Kiswahili language to non-native speakers. President Samia emphasized that this book is a crucial tool for promoting the Kiswahili language globally. “Kiswahili is a language of unity and our heritage.
This book will increase the number of people who can speak Kiswahili, thereby enhancing our culture and communication,” she said.
Tunu Magembe, present to the President’s left during the launch, expressed her delight at the recognition, saying, “I am proud to have written this book, which will make a difference in learning Kiswahili for people from other nations.
It is a great honor to see this book launched by our President.”
The launch was attended by many Tanzanians living in South Korea, along with invited guests. The event featured various entertainment segments, including traditional Tanzanian songs and dances, which heightened the excitement and showcased Tanzania’s rich cultural heritage.

President Samia used the occasion to urge Tanzanians living abroad to actively participate in promoting their language and culture. She stated, “Language is a vital part of our identity.
It is our collective responsibility to ensure that Kiswahili grows and spreads worldwide.”
President Samia thanked the authors of the books for their excellent work and encouraged all Tanzanians to take pride in their culture.
She urged Tanzanians to continue collaborating and supporting efforts to develop the nation’s language and culture. The ceremony ended with a dinner hosted in honor of the President and her guests, where attendees had the opportunity to sample traditional Tanzanian dishes, as described in the book “A Taste of East Africa.”
