Government Focuses on Teachers’ Welfare and Promotions

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has assured that the Tanzanian government is committed to addressing the challenges faced by teachers, particularly concerning salary arrears and overdue promotions.

Speaking at the 19th Annual Conference of the Tanzania Association of Heads of Secondary Schools (TAHOSSA) in Dodoma, he emphasized the importance of teachers in shaping the future of the nation’s education system.

Majaliwa praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her recognition of the crucial role teachers play in national development. He noted that ensuring timely payment of teachers’ entitlements, such as clearing salary arrears and facilitating promotions for those who missed out, is a key priority for the government.

“The government is actively working on resolving these issues,” Majaliwa explained, highlighting that efforts are underway to improve teachers’ working conditions and ensure they receive the respect and recognition they deserve. The Prime Minister also assured that qualified teachers who are due for promotion will not be left behind.
