Simba Sports Club has publicly condemned actions they claim were perpetrated by Pamba Jiji FC officials and Mwanza Regional Commissioner Said Mtanda.
Through a statement on their official Instagram account, Simba SC accused the parties of engaging in what they termed “unethical behavior” by allegedly using local police to hinder their pre-match preparations.
According to Simba SC, the club was entitled under the NBC Premier League regulations to hold their final practice session at CCM Kirumba Stadium ahead of their match against Pamba FC, scheduled for November 22, 2024. However, they reported that Pamba Jiji FC officials refused to vacate the field during Simba’s scheduled training time, creating an unusual disruption.
Allegations of Police Involvement
The statement also alleged that police officers in Mwanza were involved in actions that prevented Simba from exercising their rights under league rules. The club expressed strong disapproval of this behavior, which they viewed as undermining the integrity of the competition and their match preparation.
Simba SC’s statement read, in part:
“This incident does not reflect the spirit of sportsmanship and fairness. We demand that the appropriate authorities address these acts to ensure professionalism in football governance.”
The Match’s Importance
The incident comes ahead of a significant NBC Premier League fixture between the two teams. The Simba SC camp has emphasized their readiness for the game despite the disruptions, urging fans to rally behind the club.
Response from Pamba Jiji FC and Mwanza Authorities
Neither Pamba Jiji FC nor Mwanza Regional Commissioner Said Mtanda has issued an official response to the allegations. The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has also not commented on the matter, though fans and analysts are calling for the league’s governing body to investigate and provide clarity on the issue.
Broader Implications
This development highlights ongoing concerns about professionalism and fairness in Tanzanian football. Simba SC, a leading club in the league, has urged the Tanzania Football Federation to enforce regulations and ensure a level playing field for all teams.
