UNICEF has launched a significant global fundraising campaign, seeking $9.9 billion to assist millions of children impacted by conflicts and crises around the world.
The agency’s Executive Director, Catherine Russell, called attention to the extreme scale of suffering among children, describing the situation as unprecedented in recent history.
The funds raised will be directed to help 109 million children, focusing on urgent needs such as healthcare, education, mental health support, clean water access, and protection against gender-based violence. Russell emphasized the campaign’s urgency, particularly in regions like Afghanistan, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Palestine, and Lebanon—areas where children are exposed to violence and severe disruption in essential services.
The appeal comes at a time when UNICEF has struggled with funding shortages, receiving only 28 percent of its appeal in 2023. The agency highlighted that without international assistance, children are at risk of higher rates of malnutrition, disease, and mortality, with the situation in Sudan standing out.

I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a hard time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
