The Arusha Region will see the construction of a football stadium with an allocated budget of Sh286 billion by the government.
The stadium, set to be named after President Samia Suluhu Hassan in recognition of her contributions, will be built by the China Railway Construction Engineering Group Limited (CRCEG) from China.
During the contract signing ceremony on March 19, 2024, Culture, Arts, and Sports Minister Damas Ndumbaro unveiled this development. The stadium is designed to accommodate 30,000 spectators and is poised to become the most advanced stadium in East Africa.
Minister Ndumbaro stressed the government’s dedication to ensuring the stadium’s prompt and successful completion ahead of Tanzania’s co-hosting of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals.
In addition to hosting local and international football matches, the stadium will cater to a variety of activities including athletics, trade events, and play a significant role in boosting tourism in the country.
