The current Regional Commissioner (RC) of Arusha and former RC of Dar Es Salaam, Paul Makonda has recently disclosed troubling details about fraudulent activities conducted by his former driver during his tenure in Dar Es Salaam.
According to Makonda, the driver exploited the privileges of the RC’s office, using a vehicle equipped with the official flag and license plate to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
Makonda, who served as the RC of Dar es Salaam, only became aware of this misconduct after his departure from the position. He revealed that the driver would use the vehicle to present himself as an authoritative figure, misleading people into various fraudulent schemes. Unfortunately, the repercussions of these actions fell squarely on Makonda’s shoulders, tarnishing his reputation and the office he held.
The incident underscores the vulnerabilities within the administrative structures, where individuals close to power can exploit their positions for personal gain. Makonda expressed his disappointment and concern over the situation, emphasizing the need for stricter controls and oversight to prevent such abuses in the future.
