Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, received the credentials from three newly appointed ambassadors at the Ministry’s offices in Dar es Salaam.
The ambassadors were Hon. Helen Bawange Ndingani of Zimbabwe, Hon. Giuseppe Sean Coppola of Italy, and Hon. General Patrick Nyamvumba of Rwanda.
Minister Kombo congratulated the ambassadors on their appointments and assured them of Tanzania’s cooperation during their tenure. He highlighted the significance of their roles in strengthening bilateral relations.
Addressing the Zimbabwean Ambassador-designate, Hon. Ndingani, Minister Kombo emphasized the historic and fraternal ties between Tanzania and Zimbabwe, established by the late founders, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere and Robert Mugabe. He invited her to visit the Mwalimu Nyerere Library in Butiama, Mara region, to gain insights into Tanzania’s liberation history. He also stressed the importance of educating the youth on the liberation movements of Southern Africa.

Minister Kombo mentioned the forthcoming meeting of the Joint Cooperation Commission (JPC) between Tanzania and Zimbabwe, which Tanzania will host. The two nations collaborate in various sectors, including trade, investment, transport, food security, climate change, education, and culture.
In discussions with the Italian Ambassador-designate, Hon. Coppola, Minister Kombo expressed Tanzania’s interest in enhancing cooperation through Italy’s “Mattei Plan.” Tanzania and Italy work together in tourism, education, water, trade, agriculture, livestock, and fishing sectors. They plan to hold a business conference in Dar es Salaam in December 2024 to promote economic interests and political consultations.
In his conversation with the Rwandan Ambassador-designate, Hon. General Nyamvumba, Minister Kombo reiterated Tanzania’s commitment to maintaining close ties with Rwanda. The two countries cooperate in communication, trade, investment, transport, education, culture, sports, infrastructure, and agriculture.
