Tanzanian Ambassador to South Korea, Tony Togolani, held a meeting with visiting Tanzanian filmmakers on July 3, 2024.
This initiative follows President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s recent visit to South Korea, where discussions were held to enhance cooperation in the film sector between the two nations.
The filmmakers’ visit is a result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Busan Global Citizenship Foundation and the Tanzania Film Board. This partnership includes a three-year film sector training program (2024-2027) funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Ambassador Togolani emphasized that the collaboration with South Korea is expected to significantly impact Tanzania’s film industry by providing new opportunities for training and exposure.
The Tanzanian delegation, which includes renowned artists like Idris Sultan, Wema Sepetu, and Steven Nyerere, will tour key film institutions in Busan, such as the Busan Film Commission and the Busan Film Academy. They will also attend the Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival, a premier event that showcases global cinematic talent.
