In a statement posted on their website, the Ford Foundation said, “While we recognize Kenyans’ right to peacefully advocate for a just and equitable nation, we deny any actions or statements that promote hatred or support harassment against any institution, individual, or community. We did not fund the recent protests against the finance bill and have a strict non-partisan policy in all our grant-making.”
This comes after President William Ruto specifically mentioned the organization and urged it to tell Kenyans the truth about who is funding the anti-government protests in Kenya.
Mr. Ruto added that all those involved will face the full force of the law.
The Ford Foundation is a private organization established in 1963 by Edsel Ford, the son of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford. The organization focuses on advancing human rights and democratic values and operates globally.
