Kenyan President Dr. William Samoei Ruto led the nation in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Kenya Navy at the Mtongwe Naval Base in Mombasa County.

The event highlighted the Navy’s six-decade journey of protecting Kenya’s sovereignty and ensuring the safety of its vast maritime borders.

Addressing the gathering, President Ruto commended the Kenya Navy for its unwavering dedication to securing the country’s coastline and defending its freedoms. “The Kenya Navy has been a pillar of our national security, tirelessly safeguarding our waters and ensuring peace along our shores,” he said.

Looking ahead, the President outlined plans to strengthen the Navy’s capacity. “We are committed to enhancing our naval forces by upgrading the fleet, investing in cutting-edge technologies, and providing advanced training for our officers,” he announced.

The celebrations brought together military and political leaders, as well as families of service members, to honor the Kenya Navy’s rich history and enduring role in the country’s development. Guests witnessed demonstrations of the Navy’s operational readiness and capabilities, showcasing their evolution into a modern and dynamic force.

President Ruto emphasized the government’s dedication to equipping the military to address emerging security threats swiftly and effectively.
