The Arusha Region in Tanzania is set to make history as it hosts a gathering of nearly 1,000 Land Rover vehicles from various generations on October 12, 2024.

This unprecedented event will take place in the city of Arusha, marking the largest-ever assembly of Land Rovers worldwide. The iconic vehicles will traverse different parts of the city, creating a spectacle that has never been seen anywhere else in the world.

This historic gathering will celebrate the enduring legacy of the Land Rover brand, which has captivated adventurers, explorers, hunters, and sports enthusiasts for over seven decades. The journey of Land Rover vehicles began in the summer of 1948 at the West Midlands factory in the United Kingdom, where production first commenced. Since then, over two million Land Rover and Defender vehicles have rolled off the production line, marking more than 76 years of continuous production.

The Solihull plant in the UK has also been pivotal in the production of millions of Range Rover vehicles since the model’s launch in 1970. Today, the plant operates around the clock to meet the global demand for models such as the Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, which began production at Solihull in 2015.

Europe remains the largest market for Land Rover vehicles, accounting for 40-50% of the brand’s global sales, with half of these vehicles staying in the UK, the brand’s home country. Other significant markets include the United States and China, where Land Rovers have gained a dedicated following. The vehicles are especially popular among outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, and sportspeople, who appreciate their durability, off-road capability, and timeless design.

In 2024, the spotlight will shift to Arusha, Tanzania, where the record-breaking gathering of Land Rover vehicles will take place. The event is expected to draw attention from Land Rover enthusiasts and collectors from around the world, who will gather to celebrate the brand’s rich heritage and its impact on global automotive culture.

Paul Christian Makonda, the Regional Commissioner of Arusha, has extended an invitation to both local and international visitors to join in this momentous occasion. The event is not only an opportunity to set a new world record but also to showcase the cultural richness and breathtaking landscapes of Arusha, which is known as the tourism hub of Tanzania and a gateway to some of the most renowned natural attractions in Africa.
