President Samia Suluhu Hassan has firmly refuted accusations linking her to killings, labeling them as baseless and offensive.
Her remarks came during a meeting of the CCM Women’s Wing in Songea on September 28, 2024.
In a passionate defense, she stated, “I’ve never killed anyone, maybe stepped on an ant, but not a human.” She called on her supporters to stand by her against these unfounded claims and urged them not to feel intimidated by such accusations. “If they accuse me of being a murderer, respond by saying, ‘Yes, she has eliminated the forces holding back Tanzania’s progress and lit up the nation’s future on the global stage,’” she added.
This statement follows a surge of concerns regarding recent abductions and the high-profile killing of former Democratic Change Party leader Mohamed Ally Kibao, which has ignited public outrage and calls for government accountability.
President Samia also addressed foreign diplomats who have been critical of Tanzania, reminding them to respect the nation’s sovereignty. She emphasized that the country operates under its own laws and constitution, asserting its right to self-governance and independence.
