The Minister of Information, Communications and Information Technology, Hon. Jerry William Silaa (MP), has urged the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA)
To ensure that the construction of the Authority’s Headquarters in Njedengwa, Dodoma, is carried out in a step-by-step manner to ensure that the construction is completed on time and with the required quality.
Speaking during his visit to inspect the progress of the construction project on Wednesday, August 9, 2024, Minister Silaa said that if the implementation is outside the scheduled timeframe, it means that it did not happen suddenly, but rather that a day’s work has spilled over into another day, and ultimately gone beyond the set deadline.
“My call to everyone is to fulfill their responsibilities by considering the requirement to relocate to Dodoma, so that if possible, there can be plans to complete the office building before the scheduled time without affecting the technical aspects, so that the Authority can move to Dodoma as soon as possible,” said Minister Silaa.
Furthermore, Minister Silaa expressed satisfaction with the good work being done and urged the team to continue to supervise the construction with great patriotism, as even a 10% lapse means there will be 10% of defects in the building.
“A forest is made up of individual trees, so each of us here is one tree in the forest. If everyone fulfills their responsibilities, we will have a strong and cohesive forest,” Minister Silaa emphasized.

On his part, the TCRA Director General, Dr. Jabir Bakari, promised to ensure that they do everything possible to maintain the required pace, including continuing to submit progress reports on the project regularly.
The construction of the TCRA Headquarters in Dodoma is part of the government’s efforts to consolidate the presence of public institutions in the country’s capital city. The project, which commenced in 2022, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, providing modern and efficient office facilities for the regulatory authority.
During the inspection, Minister Silaa was accompanied by senior TCRA officials, including the Director General and heads of various departments. The minister commended the construction team for their dedication and urged them to maintain the high standards of workmanship to ensure the successful completion of the project.
