President Samia Suluhu Hassan has officially sworn in Dr. James Mataragio as the new Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy.The swearing-in ceremony took place at the State Lodge in Tunguu, Zanzibar (Tuesday).
In a ceremony ,President Hassan administered the oath of office to Dr. Mataragio, entrusting him with the responsibilities of the important role. Dr. Mataragio’s appointment highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening the energy sector and advancing its strategic goals under his leadership.
Dr Mataragio was appointed by the Head of State on February 21, 2024, to replace Athumani Selemani Mbuttuka, whose appointment was revoked.
The new Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Energy previously served as the Managing Director of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).
