Assistant writers and biometric machine operators (BVR) in the process of updating the permanent voter register in the Mbeya District Council have been urged not to consume alcoholic beverages during the voter registration exercise scheduled to take place from December 27, 2024, to January 2, 2025.
This call was made by the Registration Officer of the Mbeya Rural Constituency, Gidion Mapunda, during training sessions for the assistant writers and BVR equipment supervisors.
Mapunda also emphasized the importance of professionalism in carrying out the task and urged them to perform their duties with integrity.
He further urged them to avoid the use of intoxicants to ensure that the voter register updating exercise is carried out effectively for the development of the nation.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Electoral Officer of the Mbeya District Council, Teacher Martin Kija, stated that there are 322 registration centers designated across 28 wards in the council.
Kija urged citizens to ensure that they register at only one center and avoid the practice of registering more than once.
Some of the beneficiaries of the training, including Mpuniza Sanga and Filibart Mtenzi, expressed that the training has equipped them with the necessary skills to perform their duties professionally, and they promised to work diligently and uphold ethical standards at the centers where they will be assigned.
It is important to note that the voter register update is a key preparation for the 2025 General Elections, where citizens will vote for Councilors, Members of Parliament, and the President. The public is encouraged to register and update their information to receive voter cards.
