Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) National Executive Committee has announced the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi as the Secretary General of the party, following a decision made during a committee meeting earlier today. The meeting, presided over by the Chairperson, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, took place in Zanzibar, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
Dr. Nchimbi assumes the role of Secretary General, succeeding Mr. Daniel Chongolo, who resigned from the position on November 30, 2023. This development marks a strategic transition within the party’s leadership, reflecting CCM’s commitment to adaptability and continuity.
Dr. Nchimbi brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously served as the Member of Parliament for the Songea town constituency and as the Minister for Home Affairs. His notable contributions extend to international diplomacy, where he served as Tanzania’s Ambassador to Egypt.
The appointment of Dr. Nchimbi is anticipated to enhance CCM’s leadership dynamics, drawing on his multifaceted background in parliamentary affairs, homeland security, and diplomatic relations. As the newly appointed Secretary General, Dr. Nchimbi is poised to play a pivotal role in steering the party’s vision and objectives forward.
