Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Jean-Claude Gakosso, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie, and Congolese Abroad of the Republic of the Congo.
The two officials discussed ways to further strengthen the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and the Republic of the Congo. Key topics included:
– Expanding mutually beneficial partnership in trade, the economy, and investment
– Implementing lucrative joint energy projects and building infrastructure
– Developing the Republic of the Congo’s mineral resources
The ministers noted the importance of an upcoming meeting of the Russian-Congolese Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical Cooperation, and Trade, scheduled for September. They also highlighted the steady expansion of cooperation in education and humanitarian contacts.

Lavrov and Gakosso emphasized the unwavering commitment of Moscow and Brazzaville to deepening political dialogue and closely aligning their principled approaches at the United Nations and other multilateral forums. This includes coordinating on the situation in Ukraine in the context of efforts to establish a multipolar international order.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong and enduring ties between Russia and the Republic of the Congo, as the two countries work to expand cooperation across various strategic sectors.
