China’s Civil Affairs Vocational University, inaugurated just last month, has taken a significant step towards enhancing the marriage industry with the launch of its new undergraduate programme in Marriage Services and Management.
This innovative degree is designed to cultivate skilled professionals who will contribute to the development of marriage-related industries and promote a positive family culture within China.
The Marriage Services and Management programme will offer a comprehensive curriculum that includes modules in sociology, family ethics, wedding venue design, marriage industry economics, and family policies. By covering a diverse range of subjects, the programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in various sectors of the marriage industry.

Students who successfully complete the programme will have the opportunity to intern at specialized agencies focusing on wedding planning, matchmaking, marriage registration, and marriage counselling. This hands-on experience will not only enhance their learning but also prepare them for real-world challenges in the industry. The university plans to enrol 70 undergraduates from 12 different provinces this academic year, emphasizing its commitment to fostering talent across the nation.
The initiative reflects a growing recognition of the marriage industry’s potential in China, where traditional family values are increasingly being integrated with modern practices. The programme aims to highlight the significance of marriage and family life, thereby promoting social stability and harmony.
Moreover, with China’s changing demographics and evolving societal norms, the need for trained professionals in the marriage sector is becoming more apparent. The university’s efforts to establish this programme signal a proactive approach to addressing these changes and supporting the development of marriage-related services in the country. As such, it is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the marriage industry in China.
