Deputy Prime Minister Dr Doto Biteko has called upon the Ministry of Works to devise a comprehensive strategy aimed at empowering local contractors, ensuring smoother project implementation across the country. Speaking at a symposium for contractors and service providers over the weekend, Dr Biteko emphasized the critical role of local contractors in enhancing Tanzania’s economic landscape.
Highlighting the need for collaboration between the Works Ministry and the Treasury, Dr Biteko underscored the importance of tailored strategies to address the financial challenges faced by many local contractors. “It is imperative that we establish strong partnerships with financial institutions to create specialized plans that bolster the financial capabilities of our contractors,” he stated.
The symposium, attended by industry stakeholders, focused on bridging the gap between contractors and financial support systems. Dr Biteko emphasized the necessity of expanding dialogues with banks to facilitate access to capital, crucial for the successful execution of projects assigned to local contractors.
