The world’s tallest woman, Rumeysa Gelgi, and the world’s smallest woman, Jyoti Amge, met for tea at the Savoy Hotel in London on Wednesday, celebrating their extraordinary records.
Gelgi, standing at an impressive 7 feet, and Amge, who measures just 24 inches in height, gathered as part of a special event organized by Guinness World Records. Despite their striking difference in size, the two women quickly formed a bond over shared experiences related to their unique heights and the challenges they face in everyday life.
“It was so amazing meeting Jyoti for the first time,” Gelgi shared with enthusiasm, according to a Guinness World Records press release. “It was difficult for us to make eye contact at times due to our height difference, but it was great.”
Amge, a 24-year-old from India, also expressed her joy in meeting Gelgi, noting the rare opportunity to meet someone of a similar distinction. “I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, but I was so happy to look up today and see the world’s tallest woman,” she said, clearly delighted by the encounter.
Gelgi, a web designer who has been living with Weaver syndrome—a condition that accelerates growth and causes skeletal deformities—explained that her height was a result of this condition. She shared that she relies on a walker for support, as standing for long periods is physically demanding for her.
Amge, known for her role in the TV series American Horror Story, does not have any genetic abnormalities affecting her stature. Her short stature is a natural characteristic, and despite her size, she has established herself as a public figure and actress.

The two women’s meeting highlights the positive attitudes and camaraderie they share despite their vastly different physical appearances. Gelgi and Amge, who represent opposite ends of the height spectrum, celebrated not just their Guinness World Records but also the shared understanding that comes from navigating life with such unique distinctions.
“It’s been wonderful meeting Rumeysa,” Amge remarked. “She’s so good-natured, and I felt very comfortable talking to her.” Their meeting at the Savoy was not only a personal milestone but also a reminder of how diverse human experiences can be, even among those who stand on opposite ends of the height chart.
