The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has completed the verification of performance data for 82 Water and Environmental Sanitation Authorities across the country.
This effort aims to ensure accurate statistics for inclusion in the 2023/24 Performance Report.
EWURA’s Acting Director General, Engineer Poline Msuya, highlighted that the data verification was conducted through the upgraded MajIS system, a dedicated tool for collecting and storing data on water and sanitation authorities’ performance nationwide. Msuya, speaking at the closing of a workshop for water authority executives in Dodoma, emphasized the significance of reliable data in managing water resources and sanitation.
“Today, we successfully completed this process with great precision and thoroughness. I urge all water authority personnel to validate and familiarize themselves with the data recorded in the system,” Msuya stated.
The verified data includes figures on water production, meter installation rates, service availability and duration, average water connection statistics, sanitation and water quality assessments, water demand, revenue collection, and an evaluation of indicators related to water loss.

Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water, Engineer Wilfred Gichogo urged the officials to consistently submit timely and accurate data in the system.
The workshop gathered participants from regional, national, district, and small-town water authorities, alongside representatives from the Ministries of Water and Health. Organized by EWURA, the event aimed to confirm the performance data to enable the government to obtain precise information for advancing the water sector across Tanzania.
