Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed the Fair Competition Commission (FCC) to educate business stakeholders on importing high-quality goods in compliance with established laws, regulations, and procedures. This directive was delivered by Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Exaud Kigahe, who represented the Prime Minister at a forum marking World Anti-Counterfeiting Day in Dar es Salaam.
In his address, Kigahe emphasized the importance of traders adhering to quality standards and avoiding counterfeit products that negatively impact the economy and public health. He stated that the government is committed to ensuring that all products sold in the country meet high standards and comply with legal requirements.

The FCC also launched a competition week aimed at educating various business stakeholders across the country, including small-scale miners, producers, and distributors of various goods such as flower seeds and sunflower oil. The goal is to enhance their understanding of competition laws and how to avoid practices that hinder business development.
FCC Director General William Erio highlighted the commission’s responsibility to educate traders about the importance of conducting their businesses according to competition rules. He noted that practices such as price fixing, reducing production, and bid rigging are illegal and detrimental to competition.
