The Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Hon. Jerry Silaa, informed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Lands, Natural Resources and Tourism that the residential titling process was ongoing in various parts of the country, and that the process was being improved to increase efficiency.
Presenting a report on the implementation of the Land Tenure Improvement Project (LTIP) as of May 15, 2024, Hon. Silaa stated that the improvements would enable citizens to better understand the benefits of living in official areas measuring 750 square meters, compared to living in unofficial areas measuring 1000 square meters.
Furthermore, Silaa urged citizens whose areas are being formalized to fully cooperate in the process, saying that the spirit of ujamaa and the philosophy of the Tanzanian nation require every citizen to understand that a portion of their land is set aside for community services such as roads, cemeteries, and schools.
